For UMASS Dartmouth's ambitious expansion, featuring a new dining hall and housing complex, Greystar and Boingo presented us with a formidable challenge: to design and implement a comprehensive low voltage network infrastructure capable of supporting 1,210 beds across 267,500 sq ft of new housing units and a 38,000 sq ft dining hall designed to serve 800 students. Our task was to ensure seamless connectivity and security throughout the complex, a critical component for enhancing student life and safety. We engineered a robust solution that included the construction of new Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDFs), the installation of advanced switches in the Main Distribution Frame (MDF), extensive fiber optic cabling from the MDF to the IDFs, and comprehensive data cabling and wireless access points across all levels and common areas. Additionally, we implemented breakout cabling for entryway access control, ensuring a secure environment. Our meticulous planning and execution minimized disruption and delivered a state-of-the-art network infrastructure that set new standards for campus living.
